Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I only have a small budget. What can be done?
A: You will be surprised how much can be achieved for a small sum. We offer a range of cost effective solutions which provide play value and which will have an instant effect on your playground.
Q: Our playground is small, with numerous demands on the available space. Any suggestions?
A: We have an extensive range of products for this situation, ranging from playground markings, wall mounted games, traversing walls and multi- functional/dual use apparatus which occupies little space.
Q: Due to tight budgets is it possible to spread the cost over 2-3 years?
A: The overall success of a scheme depends upon a detailed plan and work schedule. On larger more extensive schemes we recommend that works are carried out in phases. This can assist with fundraising, and keep up momentum when pupils and parents can see some rewards early on. It also allows for periods of review and evaluation between phases. With smaller phased schemes, care has to be taken to avoid duplication costs.
Q: I have a problem area in my playground, currently unusable
A: We specialise in creative and innovative use of space, developed through years of experience in landscape and design. Recent areas developed include:
- Nature areas
- Growing gardens
- Outdoor Classrooms
- Wetland planting with duckboard walkways
- Multi activity zones
- Performance & Seating Areas
Q: What about safety of pupils and others during the installation phase?
A Outdoor and Play take Health and safety seriously. We have a 20 year exemplary safety record and have recently been accepted on the "Chas" (construction industry H&S) scheme.
It is valuable to have works carried out during term time as children
- can see works in progress and the effort that goes into creating their playground
- can interact with and ask questions of the installation team
- learn to value their playgrounds if they see it evolve and not just "appear" after the holidays
Q: I want to encourage children to be active at playtimes but not necessarily sport. Any suggestions?
A: Outdoor & Play recognise that many children are not "sporty" and offer a range of apparatus, activities and opportunities to engage children in different ways. The trick is to increase their physical activity without them realising it!!
